Texting and our Youth

I am so against texting that I can't see straight. I believe that it is having a huge negative affect on our young people. I have several reasons for believing this. Number 1-our youths are texting while driving and that is a huge issue right now, Number 2-texting is teaching our youths to have no conversational skills. Number 2-it's all they think of. Their grades are falling, etc. Here is a copy of something I read. Let me know what you think?

The phenomenon is beginning to worry physicians and psychologists, who say it is leading to anxiety, distraction in school, falling grades, repetitive stress injury and sleep deprivation.

Dr. Martin Joffe, a pediatrician in Greenbrae, Calif., recently surveyed students at two local high schools and said he found that many were routinely sending hundreds of texts every day.

“That’s one every few minutes,” he said. “Then you hear that these kids are responding to texts late at night. That’s going to cause sleep issues in an age group that’s already plagued with sleep issues.”

I am really concerned about this. I am not against texting ingeneral I just think there some be some rules and boundaries. Such as teens can not be allowed to text in school at all! There is no reason for it. Or text while driving (not just teens but everyone).
